John, W1AN, has graciously offered the use of his shack for an effort during the WPX RTTY next month. The idea is to make an attempt at an M2 NA win while the team at NP3U makes an attempt at an M2 world win. I don’t think I have to explain how good that would look for our club when that issue of CQ Magazine comes out! We had two pictures in this year’s results article, maybe two wins would get us four!
An NA win requires a serious effort, with both radios continuously manned throughout the contest. It is one in which we have successfully engaged before, most notably in the last two years. I’m looking for ops who can commit to trying to make this happen. How much time each op would be needed to fill a chair will depend on how many ops commit.
Who is seriously interested in doing this? I’d say we need a minimum of 4 ops to do it right, and so far Ed, W1PN and I are willing.

Count me in – can work as many hours as needed! I’m flying in at the end of January and will be in CT for most of February. Could have grabbed a ticket for PR, but if you are set I can work from CT!

We’ve been using my call sign in the WPX contests because there are only at best two other NG1s who contest regularly, and I think only one of them does RTTY.

Hi All, I would really like to make it to John’s for at least some of the Contest. Let me see how things are at home. I’m likely to commit to Friday night 10pm till 7am Saturday. Saturday and Sunday nights I wlll have to work but at least I can put in this time. Let me know if this is helpful? If not I will put in the time here at home.

A few folks have suggested that we have an operator schedule, so I’d like to try to put one together. If you plan on showing up and can give me a general day/time, that would be great. Here’s what I know so far; please make any corrections as soon as possible:

W1PN – Saturday through Sunday

In addition to an operators’ schedule (or as close as we can get to one), I would also ask folks to make sure they bring something to eat and drink for themselves, and if possible something to share with the group. I’m bringing some coffee and fixin’s, along with sandwich-making stuff and snacks. There is a small refrigerator for drinks. I’ve asked that Nancy *not* go out of her way for us, because she normally feeds us.
Weather might be an issue this weekend, so please be prepared. There is a bed in the shack, and the room across the hall where the bathroom and coffee are located has room if someone wants to bring a sleeping bag to catch some shuteye. We can make room.

Agg Murphy sets in. My work sched that was due to change this week.. HAS NOT. I will not likely be able to make it down to John’s. If the wx does not deteriorate as quickly as predicted I will be sorely tempted to call into work. But with things looking like they are starying home is looking like the thing I will need to do sorry

Sorry to say this but my work schedual that was due to change this week has not. I am sorely tempted to call out Friday night but with the wx looking as bad as it is. I dont see this as happening for me.
