Dabbled a bit more than last year. I was having good luck running until the bottom fell out due to K of 6. I think I worked all of 6 DX stations and not many VE’s. Where in the past I had been able to work a bunch of I stations during their ARI contest, I don’t think I worked any this year. Practically nothing on 15 and 10. I felt activity was pretty good state side.

There were plenty of contacts to be made Saturday…many stations on for all the QPs. Casual effort here. WA1BXY, also in NEWRI, seemed to be going full-bore. Lots of CW action so stayed in my fave Morse mode for my limited time on-air. Made lemonade (as best I could) with the lemons of propagation we got Sunday due to the big geo-magnetic storm which really wiped out activity. Quite a bummer for the W1DX team on the Vineyard Sunday, I’m sure. It can’t get any worse next year (we hope!). Lots of CTRI calls missing from my log this yr ;^(( 73! Bill W1WBB

Lots of QP activity Saturday. Chased many of the 7QP stations knowing I
wouldn’t get them Sunday, so lost on run rate but added to mult count
hopefully. Was able to operate much of last four hours on Sunday
(unanticipated) while the strong geo-magnetic storm (sustained K-index of 6
after 03z) remained in effect…managed 115 additional QSOs somehow with bands
sounding quite dead and stations just north of me sounding weak and watery.
Found KP2 on 10m Saturday for only QSO (& new mult!) on that band. Amazing
40m sig from K2RD in Reno NV (not NY or NJ…I asked) @ 2120z, 2.5 hrs before my
east coast sunset!
Stuck to my favorite mode of CW just for fun even though this is not a
mode-specific event. Thanks to all for the QSOs!

I wasn’t sure I would get on at all after a busy week and a long day Friday putting up drywall
in Newington. It was nice that Mike KB1RFJ/CT was able to stop by for a couple of hours to play as himself on Station 2. Totally lacking energy and with something less than full brain function I did get in the chair for a couple of hours. I quit early with the intention to get a little rest before heading out at 4:30AM to Martha’s Vineyard to set up W1DX/DUK~MA. Conditions Sunday were, well, as you know.. BAD. But still had an enjoyable day with our small crew consisting of W1XX, K1XA and W0RBN + XYL.
