Comments:
John W1XX scouted for potential sites on state and county lines and prepared the
route and stops for our mobile operation. In addition to several good sites and
backups he was able to locate one state line we could straddle and include three
counties. The prior week he secured permission from the property owner for
access. At this site and the others a light weight fiberglass telescopic mast on
a tripod with a 40M inverted Vee at 13M was quickly set up for use. It was
easily tuned for 20M with the K3 internal tuner.
For operation in Boston SUFMA, our white work van with roof racks and orange
traffic cones were setup on a side street. Our tripod for the antenna was setup
over an open manhole. We all had our hardhats, but the out of state
“ham” plates gave us away allowing only an hour or so operation before
we were chased.
Mike K1DM was CW operator and chief of tech support. We all welcomed the comaraderie and felt secure after having been vaccinated. Happy full faces please. Need normalcy ASAP! Good to see the CTRI participation.
We did most of our operation on 40M.

Congrats to the W1DX rover team and FB on their excellent adventure!! Nice to work you guys twice on Sunday, in BRIRI and PRORI.
A sudden sky high SWR on all antennas spelled big trouble for me Sunday shortly after noontime and shut me down. Apparent RFI had been locking up N1MM+ Logger on me just prior to that. A temporary work-around of my antenna switching system got me back on-air making contest Q’s without SWR problems … but with a big loss of band changing flexibility. Powered through to improve on the NEWRI Low Power category record of mine by 20k points. Had some of the best sustained rates in any contest I can remember! Good fun!!
The unusual short skip on 20m and 40m each day allowed me to work a lot more close-in regional stations. Had an all-time high of 50 New England counties (though they are NOT mults of course). Made 67 contacts with MA, by far the most of any state, with 36 of them coming via 40m (also the most)… a reflection of how good close-in conditions were this year. No thunderstorms and a low K-index were a bonus.
I worked just about all CTRI participants, many more than once! The 80m band in the last hour of the contest was *the* place to be. Hope all enjoyed their activity in NEQP this year!
Remember to ensure your log indicates CTRI Contest Group in the Club line so points go to our club. N1MM+ Logger users may submit the log as is (with 7QP, INQP, DEQP exchanges included) via the new Log Uploader on the NEQP.org site.
For those who want to breakout and report QSOs from each of the *other* QP events that are contained in their NEQP log to the 3830Scores.com site, a simple and nifty log parsing tool exists and will do that for you here:

This is the opportunity to run with 100w to a wire, so I took it! I had hardly any time with a packed weekend and got in only 10 Q’s Saturday, missed most of the 7 mults. Sunday I had maybe 4 good runs, with 27 in 17 mins at the very end on 80 where I only have 7 watts. OM2VL called in just like last year, cool. Tnx for the cheerleading Bill! Now for 6 meter season –Dave
