To all…
Radio Ansonia needs to upgrade its RTTY/CW interface. I presently use a W3YY unit.
Presently our RTTY/CW interface is serial port driven. I purchased a serial to USB converter, but it doesn’t work for some reason.
I use the same serial to USB converter for rig control and it works fine, but NG on RTTY/CW.
So I would like to find a RTTY/CW interface that uses USB and retire the old technology.
I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. I was in North Carolina over the Thanksgiving holiday and the following week looking for property for Radio Ansonia South.

Dave,
This is a tough one. I have a USB to Serial adapter that I use, but there are only a few that will work. I use FSK, and that is part of the problem. I don’t understand why it only works with certain USB/Serial converters, but that’s the chatter that I found. The unit I have is an Inside Out Networks Edgeport/4. It also comes with 8 serial ports. Ken, K3IU, and I purchased these units several months ago on the internet. I don’t know if that’s what you have in mind. I got the impression you are looking for a total USB solution. I do not know of any, but I am sure they are out there.
Good luck.

Hello, Dave:
The Edgeport4 actually has four(4) DB9 RS232 connections on the output side. I picked up mine on eBay a while ago for less than $50… *used, not new*. After installing the driver and utility, I plugged it into a USB port on my old Toshiba laptop, connected the rig control serial cable to one DB9 and the FSK keying line to another DB9 and using N1MM logger it worked perfectly sending FSK RTTY and controlling the rig. I have never used it with all 4 serial outputs connected to something, but from what I have seen on various reflectors, it always does everything it is asked to do. There may be other USB->Serial adapters that work but this one seems to do everything.
On the N1MM.com web site there is a good section on the USB Interface Devices.

Others may have more recent info than me.

You might also investigate this at abt $45. It is praised by Dick Dievendorf, K6KR in an email on the Elecraft Reflector.
