No big effort this time. Had many obligations and couldn’t let the great weekend go by without catching up with a ton of yard work. Operated about 4 hours or so. Mostly CW. I tried SSB but didn’t enjoy it as much as CW.

I put about 7 hours into this contest. CW only. 99% Runnin’ ‘n Gunnin’. K1DM called me on 15 early in the contest and his call sign didn’t sink into my brain until after I had logged it and continued calling CQ. Sorry, Mike. Didn’t hear any other club members. Only a few DX contacts. Conditions weren’t very good.
Here’s the result of my effort from Newport County, RI…

Very casual operation. Lots of fun. Especially enjoyed the ragchewing on 40M phone. Did work K1DM, K1SD.

Was able to make temporary repair to my wire doublet open wire feedline (300 ohm ‘window line’) during week prior to NEQP. The tuner is not as happy with the new feedline length on multiple basnds but the SWR match is still OK. The antenna worked great on 40m and decent on 20m.
Only big run was last hour on 40m with a few EU even calling in. Overall, worked all states east of the Mississippi but missed NE and the Dakotas, AR and (incredibly !)TX, and ID and AK. Band condx seemed up and down due to the many C-Class solar flares over the contest period. Was called by rare (this year) WASRI stn KB1MAO late Sunday afternoon…his QSO count was just 70 but other mobile(s) also chipped in to hand out that mult.
Not near as fun when unable to work CW (due to equipt issues) but I did what I could on SSB. Modest effort with many breaks. Many appreciated the NEWRI mult on phone. Looks like Ken K3IU did great job providing our mult on CW.

I finally got around to finishing the paperwork for this one. I had a good time despite having just a 40-meter wire. The tuner would let me play on 20 as well as 15. My objective was to get some additional countries and states on 20, 15, and 10. Ten meters was useless for me. I didn’t make a single Q. I operated high power assisted CW only. For phone, I would have had to locate a mic. Thanks to Ken, John, and Jim for Q’s. I missed Washington county in RI, but got all counties in CT.

I guess I should have included my category: Single Op, High Power, Assisted, All bands (sort of), New London County. I already received a QSL card from JA who wants New London! He’ll be happy in a few days.
