I know, I know… it is nine months away. However, I thought that I would put out a query to see what the interest level might be for a team heading to Mi Casita next February. I sent an email to Carlos asking him whether he would be going to the Orlando HamCation in Feb 2014 (on the same weekend as WPX RTTY contest) or whether Mi Casita would be available for that weekend. His response was, “The contest will be more important to me. So hope to see you again and broke the old record.”
If anyone is interested, we shouldn’t let this subject drop off of the radar until the last minute. I am not sure that I am interested in going down next year, and I believe that John, W1AN, said that he might like to make a run at a M2 op from his QTH next year. However, there may be enough interest that a team heading to NP3U and manning a M2 at John’s may be possible.
Whatever the interest level, at some point down the road, we should let Carlos know whether or not we will be sending a team so that he can make other plans if we don’t.
I am interested in another stab at the M2 record from NP3U, but I can’t say with certainty right now if I’d be able to go. I agree that it would definitely be good to at least determine whether there is sufficient interest to continue pursuing it or if we should just tell Carlos we can’t support it.
