2014 ARRL RTTY Round Up Results

Good morning, CTRIers:

Please post your results for this contest here by commenting/replying to this posting. I have had other obligations this weekend and have not been able to spend much time in the contest, but did make a few Qs on 10 meters yesterday and will probably be able to make a few more today.

  1. The logger says that I put in just shy of 4 hours of BIC time. I had other things going on and was just in and out over the contest period. I worked K1SD on a couple of bands and also heard/worked Jose, KP4JRS, who helped us out at NP3U last Feb in the WPX RTTY contest. I operated SOLP Assisted, which I think will put me in the Multi-Op category by the scoring robot.

Here are the results from Portsmouth, RI…

I finally put a station back together to try and challenge the SOLP RI Section record I set from my previous QTH in 2000. 51,900 points, 519 QSOs, 100 mults (yeah, I know, but it’s been there for 14 years!). This time with the one radio plus packet.

Before the start I found our Comrade in Arms, Jose’ KP4JRS, running DX on 10. He switched to contest mode before my clock said 1800. He was my 1st, his 004. I passed 500 Qs early Sunday morning. Everything after that was, as we would say in south Louisiana, lagniappe.

Good DX worked thanks to packet spots: VK3TDX, ZS6WN, TK5AE. Never could bust the pile up on ZL1BYZ. So, he calls in during a 10 meter run Saturday afternoon!

Last states needed were RI (!) and MS. Good friend Ken K3IU calls in for the always rare RI mult Sunday morning in the beginning of a long 10 meter run (and again later on 20). The sudden jump of the SFI to 215 was a surprise and I really expected more of 10 than I got. W5ETZ calls in on 15 Sunday afternoon from my old home state of MS. Never saw a hint of DC. I saw Mike K1DM a few times Sunday and work him on 20 and 80. Worked John W1AN on 40 and saw him a few more time during the weekend. I think I saw W1CTN spotted once but never saw him.

The station performed as designed. I used MMTTY and 2Tone windows on the main screen and a second 2Tone on the K3 SubRx when needed (rarely). Many times during the weekend MMTTY was the better decoder for long periods. And others, 2Tone was making solid copy with nothing readable on MMTTY. Didn’t correlate it to band conditions, but it probably was.

    Great fun.

  3. Thanks, James. I saw that after I had submitted the log, however, I’m sure the log check robot will note that I was assisted and change my category to Unlimited… at least they have in the past 🙂
