Guess I will post my meager results even though I am not very proud of the effort. However, with low power, an even lower 80 meter antenna, and less than an hour effort, I will contribute to the cause and post the numbers anyway. I killed my antenna enhancer, aka amplifier, right at the start so couldn’t use that. I made a stupid and rookie mistake a few days ago when I was reconnecting cables to the amp after doing some calibration on the transceiver using an in line power meter. The amp didn’t like getting 100 watts being crammed into its output connection. My aging eyes did not read the labels as I was looking upside down at the back of the amp. I gotta be more careful. Sigh…
Here are the results. I did work the Johns (XX and AN)

Comments: There so many stations on that finding a spot below 1900 was at times not possible. Saving grace however was that I discovered European DX stations would answer my CQs up in the nosebleed section. This helped get away from the horrendous QRM down below for both of us. Almost all DX worked on CQs. 2nd nite was way better than the first for DX, but racked up 600 Qs total the first night. West Coast was a bit sparse but came in during the week hours. Only one KH6 and no Pacific DX which is not unusual. No doubt the RI multiplier helps in this contest. Worked K3IU (nice job considering the impediments you posted), W1AN, K1DFT and a couple others I don’t know. I think I worked Andy. If only VO1 had called in (which they usually do) I would have had one more domestic mult than anyone posted on 3830. With a little more “hanging in there” and I should have broken 300K points. But all things considered I am satisfied with the results. All that phone splatter on Top Band will give you a headache, but this is a real enjoyable contest. Operate most of the night…catch a few winks here and there…and the daytime is all yours. Out. 73! — John, W1XX
Very good conditions especially Saturday night. Both nights it was difficult to find a place to park with all the activity and moving to the top end to avoid much of the QRM was necessary. I fixed neighbors electric fences Friday before the contest to reduce a continuous 10db/S9 noise. Much of the other electronic junk noise had to be tolerated.
Great job John XX from a friend who was a little envious of you being able to find a place to camp in one of the better neighborhoods near 1900 when I was forced to the undeveloped regions up in the low rent section of the band. In the end it worked out well as the DX eventually found me. I was able to keep a good run going for a couple of hours ending the contest with a 50% better score than in past years.
