  1. Dabbled in this for a few hours. EU pretty light in the morning hours. Better in the afternoon. Conditions not so great so it seemed that most of EU was happy working each other and beams not pointed to NA. Most productive band was 20 and it is getting crowded there. Harbinger of things to come this Fall and next Winter for the bigger DX contests.

Hope all had a great Memorial Day weekend!

  2. I dabbled even less than Jim did… about 2.6 hours BIC time. Was in and out and all S&P. I managed to work KE1S on 2 bands, but don’t recall hearing anyone else.

    A weekend of firsts.

First M2 in the CQ WPX CW contest from here. First voyage for KE1S the new club call. (Sounds great on CW) And first club event for new CTRI’er Lars KE1J. He’s a CW Op! I enjoyed every minute. There were no equipment failures or hiccups. Possibly another first! The PC’s with N1MM+ worked flawlessly. The early setup for reverse beacon network by Lars helped check our propagation and yielded a big improvement in spot accuracy. There is so much more to learn about this!

Conditions were generally fair to good, but very slow rates in the wee hours. (I am told.) Not much on 10M or 160. 15M was shaky when open. We need to discipline ourselves in getting on 40M earlier at the end for the 6 pointers.
The downward path in the sunspot cycle shows.

Thanks to all who kept the chairs warm. Especially Nancy for all her support. Hope more can make it for the next one.

  4. Gents: I’ve been waiting for the K9CT super station to post their score…to see how our KE1S entry stacked up. We’ve got to be encouraged. Their score is 2 million + ahead of us, but that’s not so bad as the score builds up fast once you get into some of the bigger numbers. We beat them on 80, held serve on 40 (about even), and they pulled ahead by several hundred on 20 and 15. Plus they appear to have had a 3rd station searching for mults. With another operator or two, John has a third operating position that could perhaps do the same. And we weren’t exactly out for blood with some down time. So for a first time in this contest in Multi-2, we seem to be pretty competitive. The KE1S call sign was nice on CW and it was a pleasure to have Lars, KE1J on the team. — John, W1XX
