Here are my meager results from this years NEQP event. I put in a l’il bit over an hour right at the beginning. It was all on 2o meters and all runnin’ n gunnin’. Didn’t work or hear any CTRI guys that I recall.
All 20 meters

Always a pleasure to team up with old friend K1XA for one of my favorite contests, the NEQP. We were not doing well multiplier-wise until about 5 PM on Sunday, when all of a sudden every station in Europe was calling us on 20M SSB. That helped the mult total immensely. Hit our goal of 2000 total Qs and 300K points score…but a bit short of our best score a few years back. I know we worked a slew of CTRI’ers…so kudos to our Contest Mgr. for getting the troops enthused. Bodes well for our Field Day. Bring your war stories to the next CTRI meeting. Next up is the CQ WPX CW at the end of the month. Whats with KE1J/KP4 remote?? 73! — John, W1XX
Did operate from 3 stations!
Started Saturday with 6 hrs at W1DX. On Sunday I was playing around with the remote and found a station in CT so thought I give it a go. Made a few QSO’s as KE1J from CT then I realized that they had a KP4 station available so just had to try it. Made a whopping 5 QSO’s as KP4/KE1J all from sitting in my condo in Wakefield!! Had problem getting N1MM keying the remotes so wasn’t the most “user friendly” setup for me.
I had some time and spent a few hours. Conditions quiet especially on Sunday. It seems that I worked most in 4 land. Heard/Worked the usual CTRI suspects: KI1G, W1WBB, W1DX and W1XX
Just 6+ hrs BIC, split between both days. Too tired to continue later on Sat eve so missed a bunch of 7-land/IN/DE QP and NEQP contacts on Day 1. Sunday eve was productive… ended up adding 3k pts to the Newport Cty NEQP QRP record by event’s end. Contrary to W1XX, this is not one of my *favorite* contests… seems silly to count every DXCC as a mult in a domestic QSO Party. I kept my Hexbeam pointing west… struggled trying to work the Midwest USA black hole on 20m though. Same lack of W0/W5 on 40m for me with the 5 watts. Had 5 or 6 good runs overall but they only lasted 15-20 mins apiece. Still, had a good time! 73, Bill W1WBB

Ran QRP this year as I did back in 2014… again a modest effort due to other
commitments both days with youth/high school baseball. Managed 3k more points
than three years ago (20+ add’l QSOs and 2 add’l mults). Did not seek out DX
mults this year (often found in ARI contest) and missed most W5 and W0 states,
plus VE4,VE5,VE6, KL7 and KH6 once again (only TX, AR, MO and CO called in from
mid-USA)… all other states were worked.
Bands were pretty quiet without storm noise this year but an annoying S-5 line
noise was present for me on 20,40 and 80m. Didn’t seem to affect my QSO count
though. Only moderately strong sigs on Saturday on 20m from W7-QP stations,
but lots of activity!
KE1J did the heavy lifting on CW. KB1RFJ and K1ECU worked SSB. I did the relaxing. Probably should have focused more on the DX as the mults total should have been better.
