The station will be open for operations this weekend for a Multi-2. So far, K1DM, W1WBB, K3IU and W1XX have expressed interest. I will attempt to put a schedule together of preferred times so we can all get in some hours. I will take a backup, fill in, support position for times when we have the chairs full. You can email me directly at W1AN(at)dxusa.net

As some of you experienced or heard, conditions for last weekends Russian DX contest were challenging. Fortunately conditions are rapidly improving for the next big one, the CQ WPX Phone contest. Work everyone everywhere. Multipliers are unique prefixes. I hope all can put some time in the chair. And there is plenty of chair time available here at W1AN/W1DX. I don’t have a special prefix (yet) but high Q rates can be expected.

A good opportunity to freshen up your CW skills. Remember this is the contest where the DX wants you! I’ll have the station open! Rain, snow or shine.

Best we pay attention to the weather forecast for this weekend. Record low temperatures are predicted along with 6-8″ of snow with sustained winds of 35 MPH and gusts up to 60MPH for Sunday, wind chills below -20F. Have some firewood ready, flashlights and fuel for your generators. It may get a little interesting. It would have been a good weekend to be in PR.

I hope everyone has plans to put some time into the WPX RTTY contest this weekend. Conditions should be good. Get your stations ready! I’ll be active from home and most likely use W1AN as the call. Station will be open for guests.

The country that tops the DXCC most wanted list is Navassa Island in the Caribbean. Operating with the call K1N they have amassed over 110,000 QSOs so far. Although it hasn’t been easy, I’ve been able to work them on several band slots. Since the split operation has been so spread out it is has been tough for them to find you. So patience is key. They also seem to add additional time slots almost daily. Today they’ve opened up several more.
If you don’t have Navassa in your log, catch them now or you may not have another chance for 10 years. It has been 22 years since the last operation! http://navassadx.com

If you haven’t heard the CQWW Phone Test starts tonite! I hope we can get some activity. I will have the station here open if you get the urge to put in a few hours. Come on down!

The Nearfest flea market at Deerfield NH is next weekend. At the clubs direction much of the items from Chris KA1GEUs estate will be brought there for sale, with the exception of a few large or expensive items such as the Heights Tower, the Alpha 9500 amplifier, the Flex 5000A radio, The SteppIR antenna, some spools of 50 ohm cable, etc. The below list is the items available to club members before the flea market. Please let me know if you are interested at the listed (price) by next Friday so I can make sure the item stays behind. If you think the price should be lower or higher please advise. Nothing is written in stone here. If two or more members are interested at same price we will pull the winner out of a hat.
The items that have member offers for at least the amounts on the list I receive up thru Friday 10/10 will be set aside. Other items will go to Nearfest, where the plan is to see what sells, generally asking for more than the amounts on the list. If there is a member offer below the list on an item, we won’t sell it for any less at the flea market. If no better offer we will bring it home for the member at the offered price.
Look over the list. There are several nice items at much less than new prices. If you have any question on an item, let me know. I have revised some prices down after searching the web for recent sales.

I know. Time flies. It’s hard to believe the CQWW RTTY is this weekend. I’m finishing up some cleanup and will be prepared for those who may like to operate at my QTH. There will be the usual two stations available. Let me know if you will be dropping by.
Conditions for the W1AW/1 operation this past week were very good. 12M and 10M were open into the early evenings. Could be a good for us this weekend.

In case you missed or forgot the date on my first post, the 2nd ARRL W1AW/1 Centennial operation for CT started 9/17 Tuesday. There are many open band/mode slots available. I will have my host station open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and next Monday and Tuesday. If you want to operate from here let me know and I will get the slot reserved for you.

The second W1AW operating session for CT starts Tuesday evening or 0000Z on 9/17. The schedule is posted at w1aw.dxusa.net. Managing the schedule will be Dick KB1H and Tom W1TJL. They show the contact email addresses as kb1h@nullarrl.net, w1tjl@nullarrl.net and w1aw-ct@nulldxusa.net.
I plan on hosting here and will have the two operating stations available all week, but possibly not daytime Sunday the 21st. It’s first season home game for the Patriots! You can contact Tom or Dick and get your password or just let me know when you will be over to operate and your preferred bands/modes. We will also be able to fill voids in the schedule most any time, but if you have band preferences it’s best to reserve on your own.
