Amateur Radio pioneer Leo Meyerson, W0GFQ, will be celebrating his
100th birthday on February 24.  For you youngsters who may not know
who Leo is, he was founder of World Radio Laboratories (WRL) and
manufactured a number of now classic transmitters and other
products.  That included the Globe Scout and Globe Chief 90 some of
us, me included, cut our Novice teeth on back in the 1950’s.

QCWA Chapter 154 in West Palm Springs is having a party honoring
Leo’s birthday and they’ve asked that his friends and fans send him a
QSL card with “Happy 100th Birthday Leo” on it.  Send it to:

Also, on February 23-24 there will be a Special Event station, W0G,
to commemorate Leo’s birthday on 14,265 Kc. from 1800Z to 2359Z each day.

Twenty five members and spouses met at Gregg’s Restaurant in North Kingstown for our Second Post Holidays Luncheon on Saturday, February 5, 2011.

During last Spring’s epic floods our long time meeting place, historic Crandall House in Ashaway, RI, experienced significant flood damage, particularly to the section housing our meeting room.  Forced to find other quarters while repairs were effected we met in various members’ QTHes. Fortunately, under the circumstances, attendance varied between ten and fifteen so we didn’t overflow anyone’s home. In this writer’s opinion the quality of dialog was improved by the less formal environment of comfortable living rooms.
