  1. Here is the result from K3IU. Only put in about 2 or so hours. Worked W1AN and W1XX. Longest shot was Bob Patton, N4BP, in south FL.

Comments: Condx were somewhat above average especially with Es most of Saturday…with flat condx the first couple of hours. I probably quit too early at about 11 PM…6M was slowing down but I think it was still open. Nothing special on 2…worked as far south as FM17. Sunday afternoon 6 meter condx were dreadful with no Es for hours. There was a short opening here to EU on Saturday…but I missed it…as I was concentrating on stateside mults. Furthest west worked was only one station in grid DMxx. Pretty good opening to Texas. Worked former QST VHF columnist W3XO/5…but before I could exchange grids , he was gone. Lots of in and out QSOs. Usual CTRI suspects worked: W1AN (heard a lot), K3IU, K1DM, NG1G. Didn’t put in a full effort but probably enough to be somewhere amongst the top scorers. K2DRH in Illinois no doubt will again be the top scorer (he’s won EVERY time for about 12 years straight! …amazing). I heard his 6M stack of 7 (!) two different times on a dead band. It was a good contest…and you don’t need to have UHF stuff in order to compete. 73!!! — John, W1XX

Conditions were good Saturday. I easily picked up EA8DBM at 2809 thinking EU would soon be heard, but nothing more. With E-skip to EN, EL, and the eastern part of DM I collected 67 grids on 6M with my 100W. Repeatedly called, but missed a maritime mobile in FM00. Heard that the MUF was up to 110MHz. Activity was down on 2M. Worked W1XX, K3IU and K1DM.

  5. I spent very little time in the contest and my score shows it – 255 points for 17 QSOs.

  6. Thanks, Pat! I forget which contest from the past, but I once scored First in RI with less than 100 points 🙂
