Conditions were fair considering the state of the solar cycle so I didn’t spend much time on 10 although the South Americans were coming through pretty good. So 15 and 20 were the busiest. Unlike the CQWW I couldn’t get any consistent runs going but I never had a problem with calling (S&P). I could find open frequencies but had to leave after a while since I wasn’t getting any “customers”. 40 meters was hopping with super strong signals from EU.
I had to contend with periodic RFI from something nearby. Maybe a Plasma TV but when it came on I had to work around the broad band noise from 20 meters up. Didn’t hear anyone else on but wasn’t sure of the prefix aliases being used.

I had good intentions, but just can’t get excited about this contest. Stations that send cut numbers in the

Less than 12 hours BIC time in this contest. Mostly S&P. As KS1J said, running wasn’t working here for me. I did work Ai1D, but didn’t hear anyone else.

Neither of us was up for wee hour operating. We were the dictionary definition of a casual operation with many breaks. Goals were reset as we got closer to each! First 1000 QSOs, then 2M pts, then 3M. finally broke 3M sometime Sunday afternoon. Definitely not an extraordinary effort. But we hadn’t planned one either.
Band conditions were good for the usual 40, 20 and 15. Can’t say what bands were open all night! Surprised by the number of BY stations worked Sunday, 7! Thanks to Gene K1ZF for the loan of the AI1D call.

Since John posted our results, I’ll just add, as usual, John’s station worked flawlessly. I spent most of my time on 15 and 40. On Sunday, John connected me to the stacked 15s. I also had a tribander, so I could point in two different directions and switch between basically EU and West. This made me loud in two directions at once. This proved to be a great benefit whether calling CQ or S&P. Made it even more fun! I continue to be amazed at how well a TA-33 works at 100+ feet above the ground!
It is certainly fun to have high antennas, and reliable equipment. Add to that the camaraderie of a fellow operator, and you have the recipe for lots of fun! Thanks to Nancy for the excellent food.
