Glad to catch the brief 6m Es opening into the Southeast states late Sat. afternoon…but activity was sparse and no new VUCC grids worked. CTRI VHFers W1AN (nice numbers John), K3IU & KA1VMG found my log on 50 MHz. Where was W1XX? I know, good outside weekend WX and dead bands do not help promote activity…

Only real 6m Es heard here in RI [FN41] was between 20:25z and 22:10z (~ 1hr
45m) on Saturday. Worked 9 grids/15 QSOs in SE including EL86, EL89; EL96, EL98, EL99; EM74, EM85, EM86, and EM92 in Search and Pounce mode. No other Tropo/other enhancement heard all weekend for this ‘little pistol’ station.
Surprised not more 6m CW activity…total QSOs by mode: 32 SSB/21 CW
Icom 706 mkIIG @ ~75 watts; fixed 88′ wire doublet up above 40′ fed via ‘window line’ to in-shack tuner; N1MM+ Logger.

Too bad conditions were not better for this. Here are the meager results from FN41in in Portsmouth, RI…

I put in more hours than I usually do in a VHF contest. Trying to match the 63,000 score from June was hopeless. Conditions were flat for the most part except for a couple hour 6M opening to a few select EL and EM grids Saturday. Propagation was disappointing especially after several days of enhancement on bands up through 1296 in the weeks prior to the contest. On 1.2GHz I worked contacts from 400 to over 600 miles with my 10 Watts the week before the contest. Caught K3IU, W1XX, W1WBB, KA1VMG, K1DM for the log.
