Keyboard F Key Template

Gentlemen,

At the last meeting I thanked John AN and Dr. Mike for the F Key Template that we used at Field Day. I’ve been using it ever since tailored to each contest I’ve operated. Ed suggested that I post it to the web site. Sorry it took so long (er, I forgot).

Here’s the template that I’ve set up for Sweepstakes SSB this weekend. It’s just a Word file and easily modified for your circumstances.

Good luck this weekend and hope to work many CT and RI members!

YCCC Sweepstakes Tips – a Gift from PVRC

Anyone planning to play in ARRL Sweepstakes this weekend may find this helpful or, at least, somewhat interesting.

=================== Original Message ================

YCCC does not usually put forth an all-out effort in the Sweepstakes contests, as the Northeast is typically geo-challenged in this domestic contest. So we let our friends to the west have at it, and we are happy to participate and have fun.

Other contest clubs take Sweepstakes much more seriously! I happened to be doing a bit of web ‘recon’ and came across a gem on the PVRC website, a strategic encouragement for their members to participate in Sweepstakes. It includes a lot of specific operating tips which may (or might not) be applicable to those of us joining the fray this weekend.

So I’ll share the link:

Who wouda thunk that I would ever take First Place in a 160 meter contest?!? Well, I received in the mail today from the League a Certificate for First Place, Single Op Unlimited, High Power, Rhode Island Section in the ARRL 160 meter contest in 2014. My big antenna is the NVIS 80 meter dipole and tuner at the amp. My winning score was 9789.

Subject: [ctricg] update gear and antenna help needed

Update: I found a transceiver for my bedroom and a power supply. What I need is install help for the antennas. etc. I know everyone is busy and its a bad time of year! But, what I need is a few hands for a full day of antenna and feed line install. If I get a few volunteer’s I will gladly list off the details. I will try to do as much as I can myself or at least have the components ready.

I hope some of you can help as my woods walking days are over at least for a while.

HI All, To make the story short on 10/16 I found myself unemployed. Then on 10/18 I found myself disabled. I took a bad fall coming out of a minor surgery at my dermatologist. My spine hit the curbstone when I went down in the parking lot and although things have gotten a little better. I went down again on 10/30 and the doctors have gotten me a little better straightened out found the reason for the falling and we are progressing. Meanwhile I’m trying to get a little station going here at my qth. I had a dipole up for a short time but had trouble with it. It broke and fell down in a recent wind storm. I don’t want to make this email sound like begging. But, I need help restoring the dipole and putting up two others that I’ve had for a while.

Other than antenna help, Items that I need are more durable antenna wire. I was using double 18g speaker wire. It did not do well. Also items that I need because I am required to spend lots of time in bed. I’m trying to build a small station next to my bed. Items that I need to complete it are a Power supply (regulated preferred 30 amps or better but beggars cant be choosers) and a transmitter (Fldx400 or tx599 or something else ) to match up with the receiver I have (Radio shack dx100). I only have a pair of Long wires (separate receive and transmit ) but they work fine. I would love to find someone who has a multiband vertical for very cheap or just wants to get rid of it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks de John KO1H

2015 CTRI Champions Competition 05 Nov 2015

The CTRI Champions Leaderboard is available with results submitted through the CQWW Phone Contest. To view or download the spreadsheet, use the link below. I was going to wait until after SSCW this weekend, but I’ll update again after the Sweeps CW and SSB. If you don’t see your results here, that’s because they weren’t posted on our web site or listed under the club name on the 3830 reflector.

Hi All

If you turn to page 25 of the latest CQ Magazine (November), you will see a whimsical article presenting my daughter’s take on the phoenetic alphabet. If you have a spare copy that you would like to donate to me, I would greatly appreciate it! Mine got kinda wrinkled by our friends in the USPS.

CTRI 2016 Calendar

Gentlemen,

Attached is the updated CTRI Contest Calendar/Meeting Schedule for 2016. Several meeting issues have been settled, others are still undecided.

1. Proposed 9 January date is NOT available at the NK Library; 16 January MIGHT be available. The Librarian said she would let me know in a few days. At our last meeting we had discussed having the Holiday Soiree in January; if so, this becomes a non-issue.

2. The only open date in February is the 6th ; all other weekends have a contest. The Library is NOT available on that Saturday. Alternate venue required.

3. The only open date in March is the 12th ; all other weekends have a contest. The Library is NOT available on that Saturday. Alternate venue required.

4. The other proposed dates through June are reserved with the Library. We have the large meeting room from 1000 – 1300 on:

a. 9 April

b. 14 May

c. 18 June

5. We can follow-up with the Library in the Spring to set the remaining dates for 2016.
