I repaired my beverages after all the windstorms of the last few months. Large trees and limbs and wires were down everywhere in the lower woods with the RG6 coax broken and chewed by some small creatures with little teeth. I also added an unterminated ~200 foot beverage running East and West. This proved out to work great as I didn’t need to do as much switching between the others. Noise levels were fairly low except for some occasional man made noise. Possibly leaf blower motors or mowers? Missed several west coast sections and ND MB NT and PR. Mostly running, no assistance. Surprised to work S01WS. A total of 52 5 pointers are in the log. Did hear and work KE1J(VT), KS1J, W1XX, K3IU, W1CTN. Also several RI stations are in the log. Slept thru both sunrises so I gotta set the alarm next time.
Beat last years score by a little.

The 2017 CQ World-Wide DX Contest

I. OBJECTIVE: For amateurs around the world to contact as many other amateurs in as many CQ zones and countries as possible.

II. BANDS: Six bands only: 1.8, 3.5, 7, 14, 21 and 28 MHz. Observance of established band plans is strongly encouraged.

III. CONTEST EXCHANGE: SSB: RS report plus CQ Zone number of the station location (e.g., 59 05). CW: RST report plus CQ Zone (e.g., 599 05).

The station here in Ledyard CT will be open for operators. Two stations will be available. Please communicate your preferred times. Bring any special snacks, drinks and food items you may need.  toothbrush, meds, etc.  We will have the usual breakfast lunch and dinner items.

Pretty noisy and congested at times. Lots of encroachers. Easily Worked KH6LC just after sunrise Sunday. Not a lot of EU activity, but had several 5pt callers from there.

Nancy and I will host a Multi-2 Operation for the CQ WW RTTY contest this weekend. This is a work everyone contest, USA and DX stations. So we will be very busy! The packet cluster will be set up by Lars KE1J for displaying the most accurate station data from the remote beacon network, greatly improving efficiency. Operators are needed. Field Day plans are well under way.  John W1XX has a tight grip on the reins. This is the place to share the strategy and details.

The station will be open for the upcoming CQ WPX CW. Looking for operators! Will look at doing a Multi-2 if we can scare enough ops out of the bushes. Let me know! This is a work everybody contest, stateside and DX. Should be fun! Get on the air any way you can!

It has been a busy season, but another activity fast  approaching is the ARRL DX phone contest. This is the one where all the DX wants to work you! I plan on opening up the station here with the possibility of a Multi-2. In any event please post your plans here and get on the air! Make some point for the club and add to your DXCC totals.

Contest starts at 5:00PM local time until 2200Z Sunday.  Work everybody. Exchange is US states and Canadian provinces and zones for DX. I’ve got my QRN level down to S5/6 from 10db over S9 just a few minutes ago after my horse farm trip so I’m ready to go. Hope to work you!

Don’t forget the WPX RTTY contest. Conditions should be favorable. I’ll have the stations setup for a M2 this weekend and there will be plenty of chair time available. Permission has been granted for us here to use the NW1E call.  And don’t forget that the clubs new call KE1S may be available. As far as I know it has not yet been reserved for use this weekend! Get on the air and make some noise!
