2nd Thursday Test

OK… I have disabled my other user ID (it MAY have been perfectly correct in what it was causing to be displayed, but it was confusing the heck out of me!) and the Subscriber2 notifications for now in order to reduce the noise level during this testing.

I am posting this to the email address assigned to K3IU by WordPress.com. I expect to receive an email from the web site. I will then Reply to that email and hopefully create a comment to the original posting. Then I will look for an email notification from the web site about that comment.

Meeting Notice — September 19, 2015

It’s that time again. If you are familiar with the interactive meeting notice skip down to “Topics“. This is an interactive meeting notice. What, you may ask, is an interactive meeting notice? As the phrase suggests, it is a meeting notice which requires interaction by the readers. For example: we need to have topics for presentation at the meeting; we need presenters; we need volunteers to provide lunch; we need to know who is coming to the meeting so the quantity of lunch portions may be determined, and so on. This post will be updated as interactions (comments) are appended.

First Contest of the NEW CONTEST YEAR – Starts tomorrow

The 2015/2016 Contest Season is about to begin.  Our first contest starts tomorrow, Saturday, 12 September, 2015 in the form of the ARRL September VHF Contest.  To get the club off to a strong start, let’s see how many entries we can accumulate for this one!

The contest begins on Saturday afternoon around two pm local time, so you have your morning free to fine-tune your antennas, run new coax, or get the lawn mowed one more time before the neighbors notice that it’s getting ragged.

Six meters should yield a few easy contacts – each club contact counts double for the club score – or try the 2-m FM only category.  Remember all that wall paper Ken, K3IU has been complaining about – maybe you can grab one or two for your shack!

See you in the pile-ups.

More Wallpaper

Pretty soon I will need to add another wall. In today’s mail there arrived a certificate for the CQWW 160 DX contest telling me that I won First Place Single Op Assisted High Power CW in Rhode Island, and 14th in the First Call area. A total of 117 Qs!

Some of you may notice that I am sending this by email to the newly installed LISTSREVE that several of us have been working on recently.

September is Elections month

As required by our Constitution, Article III, Section B (http://ctri.club/2010/06/15/constitution-as-amended-in-2007/), the September meeting of CTRI will include in the agenda election of officers.

It is important for our club that we have a good turnout, and that everyone comes prepared to vote on new officers.  If you  would like to hold an elected position in the club, please send me an e-mail (k1dm@nullarrl.net), and I will put together a list of those who are interested in holding an office in the club.  Our club officers include: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Contest Manager.

Of course, we will also have nominations from the floor at the meeting.  The results of elections will set the course of the club for this upcoming year.  Thanks for taking part.

It’s Wallpaper Collecting Time Again

Last September in the ARRL VHF contest, I managed 9 QSOs, all CW, and 6 mults for a grand total of 54 points. I was SO HP 6M, Assisted. In today’s mail there was a large envelope from the ARRL that contained yet another certificate for First Place RI Section MultiOperator (because I was assisted).  Now I have got to figure out where to put this new award…
